- Graduate in Law by the University of Malaga (1996).
- He formed part of the legal department of a Spanish bank (1997-2002).
- Wide experience in civil, company and insurance law.
- Conference speaker and writer.
He is a founding member and lawyer of the firm GVA & ATENCIA. He has worked as a lawyer in the firm GV&A since 2002, for the Procedural Area in the Malaga office and also, for the Procurement Area in the offices of Marbella and Torre del Mar. He began his professional career as a lawyer assigned to a determined area in the legal department of an important banking entity, dealing with all the contentious matters for the bank, such as the development and execution of financial transactions, from 1997 to 2002. He left this position to practice law independently, since he believed that this would enable him to develop his career better than being an in-house lawyer, taking on a wider variety of cases.
His role at GVA & ATENCIA is centred on the Litigation Department, where he processes the procedural cases of the firm with the collaboration of the rest of the members of the department. Despite having a higher specialisation in sectors such as banking law, civil liability, construction, consumer laws and cross border litigation, his position demands he be able to respond to a wide range of cases, practically unlimited, ranging from the needs of a small community of owners to the defence in litigation of the interests of a foreign fund in their investments in Spain, to name just two examples. Nevertheless, this universality of functions, required by the needs of GVA & ATENCIA, aims at concentrating his work in dealing with procedural cases, given his experience in the matter.
Promoting training
Given his experience in procedural cases and without prejudice to his direct responsibility over some particular cases, it is his obligation, as partner of the firm and experienced lawyer in his field, to encourage the training of the members of the department, to help develop strategies and ensure that the answer given by the department to the challenges posed by the firm and their clients is of utmost quality.
In his own words: “It is not easy to describe what someone is an expert in or in what he excels in their profession, but if I had to say something in this respect, I would probably highlight the ability to design effective defence and action strategies, as a professional litigation lawyer, which is translatable to any case, however modest I may be.”
He always invests hours of research and analysis into each case, determining the strengths and weaknesses of the client, as well as those of the other party. He also puts these findings side-by-side to achieve, when the time comes, the desired result, which may be an agreement, or a favourable judgement for the interests of the clients.
He is a graduate in Law and has received and taught specialisation courses in several different subjects related to his field of work, both at a professional level at Bar Associations and Quantity Surveyor’s Associations, as well as in academic forums and the University.
In addition to all this, he has participated as a speaker in study forums with the University of Malaga’s Law Faculty. He has also studied specialisation courses in Law with the COAT and performed as a speaker at several courses organised by the Malaga Bar Association, etc. He is a non-practising member of the Cádiz Bar Association and practising lawyer of the Malaga Bar Association.
In another dimension, other to that of a law professional, he is a narrator and a novelist, who has published several works with the Grupo Planeta and other editorial companies. He is also a guest contributor for communication media like El País or El Mundo, among others, and a playwright.
